Oktoberfest is such a wild event that it deserves an entire itinerary of it’s own. People travel from all over the world just to experience this top bucket-lister. I saw quite a few out-of-towners show up, buy cheap Bavarian attire, just to rage their face off and leave, but there is an art to Oktoberfest. It’s a tradition rooted deep in Bavarian culture dating back to 1810 with the wedding of King Ludwig I and Princess Therese. The event was celebrated with horse races and the people enjoyed them so much they became a reoccurring event. Munich has 6 respected and prestigious breweries that participate each year and often times tables are reserved for family lines dating back hundreds of years. Today Oktoberfest is one of the largest festivals in the world with over 6 million visitors from around the world gathering on the original grounds of the wedding festivities. Willkommen bei Wies’n! or Welcome to Oktoberfest.
